Part 4:
The trucks are put to the test.
The delivery.

In November, 2015, three new custom Demers ambulances were delivered to the Missouri firehouses they would call home. Ten days later, we had a chance to catch up with the Florissant Valley FPD ambulance committee to get their feedback from the crew on key features like the user-friendly set up, the safe and ergonomic mobility seat, and the comfortable ride.

Watch as the Road to Demers
arrives at its conclusion.

Slide background

“It’s a huge difference from what we’re used to, the overall set up, it’s very convenient…Everything we need is right next to the mobility seat…we have no reason to get up and are belted in all the way to the hospital.”

-Brian McHugh, Committee Member, Firefighter & Paramedic

Slide background

“The biggest change for us is in the amount of room in the back. Now, multiple people can fit in the back and provide better care to our patients.”

-Andrew Krato, Committee Member, Firefighter & Paramedic

Slide background

“I’m sure your goal is for us to not look off the road when we’re driving…I’m looking straight ahead and the siren is right next to the steering wheel, the lights are straight ahead, everything that we need is right there. We don’t have to look down like we used to.”

-Brian McHugh, Committee Member, Firefighter & Paramedic

Slide background

“I feel the paramedics are much safer…the ability to ride forward-facing which, as everybody knows, is the safest position, benefits them tremendously.”

-Mark Flauter, Committee Member, Firefighter & Paramedic
